Organization of environmental protection
The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) department and the Corporate Responsibility department are primarily concerned with monitoring and analyzing the impact of our wafer production on the environment and safety. These areas define the systems and guidelines that apply throughout the Group. Both report directly to the Executive Board. Specially trained employees are also responsible for environmental protection at the production sites.
Management system for safety and environmental protection
Environmental protection and safety are among the most important pillars of our sustainability concept. To achieve our long-term corporate goals, we regularly define targets in the areas of occupational and process safety, emissions, waste and water consumption at all our sites. We measure progress using concrete figures.
In order to achieve our goals, the sites carry out individual programs tailored to the respective local conditions: We work continuously to optimize our production processes. We close material cycles and return by-products to production elsewhere. In this way, we reduce the use of raw materials, energy and water consumption as well as emissions and waste volumes.
Certificates
Our Integrated Management System (IMS) meets the requirements of various international norms and standards: IATF 16949 for quality management, ISO 14001 for environmental management and ISO 45001 for occupational safety. The certificates awarded by independent bodies are proof of this: The quality and performance of our processes – and thus the quality capability of Siltronic – are in line with demanding international standards.
