The semiconductor industry offers attractive growth prospects, supported by several global megatrends. In particular, applications in Artificial Intelligence, as well as Electromobility, Renewable Energy and increasing Digitalization, are driving demand for semiconductors and, in turn, silicon wafers. At the same time, the wafer industry is characterized by high capital intensity and pronounced market cycles.

In her keynote, Claudia Schmitt, Chief Financial Officer of Siltronic AG, discussed the current market environment and the challenges of recent years. Despite a historically prolonged downturn in the wafer industry, Siltronic invested significantly in expanding its capacities, particularly at its Singapore site, and in further developing its product portfolio at its Freiberg site. At the same time, the company implemented comprehensive programs focused on cost control, investment discipline and liquidity management.

“Market conditions are improving. At the same time, discipline remains essential. We will shape the next phase of growth together with our customers and suppliers. Long-term success requires economically viable conditions and an appropriate sharing of risk along the value chain,” said Claudia Schmitt.

Looking ahead, Siltronic set out clear expectations for its partners. In addition to competitive cost structures, flexibility, innovation, the highest standards of quality and reliability, excellent project execution and strong ESG performance are becoming increasingly important. Joint roadmaps and the development of new solutions are intended to strengthen supply chain resilience and secure long-term competitiveness.
