140 attendees get informed at Siltronic’s Supplier Day

Burghausen, September 17, 2008 – Some 140 delegates from more than 80 companies worldwide have attended Siltronic’s Supplier Days (September 16, 17) in Burghausen (Germany). For the second time managers of Siltronic exchanged with their key suppliers. Under the motto “360° thinking” the attendees discussed how the relationships between suppliers and Siltronic can be further improved.
Dr. Joachim Manke, CFO, informed about the 360° philosophy that marks Siltronic wholistic positions regarding efficiency, quality, expertise and performance in a global economy. Chief Commercial Officer Paul Lindblad gave insights into the dynamic and challenging markets Siltronic serves.
Johannes Moritz, head of the strategic procurement department, pointed in his opening speech to the currently tough economic conditions, stressing that only companies forcing continuous improvement in terms of efficiency and quality can survive. These points were underlined by several other speakers who additionally indicated the necessity of innovations as well as comprehensive and integrated quality procedures.
Siltronic best suppliers of the last year were awarded by CEO Dr. Wilhelm Sittenthaler during a joint dinner in the Burghausen Castle.
Laureates from all over the world
In the category “Excellent and Reliable Global Partnership” Siltronic awarded the US company Applied Materials Inc. The Japanese company Japan Super Quartz was decorated with the award for “Excellent Total Performance in the Sector of Crystal Growth Consumables” for their outstanding performance. Another award went to Japan, as Koyo Machine Industries Co. Ltd. got their price for “Excellence in Grinding Technologies”. The Award for the company with the highest rating was awarded to Moses Lake Industries. Moses Lake’s executive vice President, Michael Harvey accepted the award for “Best Performance in Siltronic Supplier Rating 2007”.
“Your innovative strength ensures our long-term success, your cost-consciousness boosts our efficiency and your quality is a fundamental precondition for us to even find customers of our products”, said Dr. Sittenthaler praising this years award winners.
