The Siltronic Fab in Freiberg is located close to Dresden, an important European microelectronics center. Freiberg houses a state-of-the-art crucible pulling facility for silicon monocrystals with up to 300 mm diameter, and one of the world's most modern production lines for 300 mm silicon wafers.

Since 1996, Siltronic has invested over 800 million euros in the Freiberg site, and currently employs around 1,000 people here (as of December 31, 2009).
